Kuopio Symphony Orchestra: Sibelius, Dvořák and Wagner

Pietari Inkinen returns to the podium of the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra on 5 February 2026 for a concert at the Kuopio Music Centre featuring works by Wagner, Dvořák and Sibelius.

The programme reflects key strands of his artistic profile: Alongside Wagner’s overture to Tannhäuser and Dvořák’s Othello Overture, the concert centres on Jean Sibelius’s Sixth and Seventh Symphonies – two late works that encapsulate the composer’s distinctive orchestral language.

Sibelius has long been central to Inkinen’s repertoire. During his international career, including extended periods working in New Zealand and Japan, he recorded numerous works by the Finnish composer. Inkinen is equally recognised for his affinity with Czech music, shaped by his tenure as Chief Conductor of the Prague Symphony Orchestra and further developed during his time as Music Director of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, where completed the recording of all of Dvořák’s symphonies.

The February 5 concert marks Pietari Inkinen’s return to Kuopio, a city connected to his early musical path, and takes place in the acoustically renowned Concert Hall of the Kuopio Music Centre.
