Scenes from the “Ring” with Hong Kong Philharmonic

On January 17 and 18, 2025, Pietari Inkinen returns to Wagner’s Ring cycle, conducting the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in scenes from Siegfried and Götterdämmerung. These performances at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall also feature acclaimed Wagner singers Ricarda Merbeth as Brünnhilde and Stefan Vinke as Siegfried.

RTHK’s Radio 4 will broadcast the event on February 7 at 8 PM and on February 13, 2025, at 3 PM Hong Kong time. Listeners can tune in through RTHK’s official website.

Pietari Inkinen has previously led celebrated Ring cycles, notably with Opera Australia in 2013 and 2016, and achieved significant acclaim leading the 2023 Ring at Bayreuth. Critics praised his interpretations, with Das Opernglas describing him as “one of the most inspired conductors who ever undertook the ‘Ring’ in Bayreuth,” and VAN Magazine stating, “Pietari Inkinen’s Ring conducting is a hit.” Heilbronner Stimme lauded his performance as “a real masterstroke,” and The New York Times noted that “the orchestra was, as Wagner intended, a character in its own right.”
