Dvořák with I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan

This week, Pietari Inkinen returns to Milan to lead the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali in two concerts dedicated to the music of Antonín Dvořák. Performances take place at Teatro Dal Verme on Thursday, May 23 and Saturday, May 25, and include Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 and 9.

A familiar figure among Milanese audiences, Inkinen has conducted at all three of the city’s major musical institutions. He made his Milan debut in 2003 with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi (La Verdi), returned in 2005 to lead for the first time I Pomeriggi Musicali, and conducted the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala in 2009.

His connection to Dvořák’s symphonic repertoire is deep and ongoing. The former chief conductor of the Prague Symphony Orchestra has recorded several Dvořák symphonies with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, including a critically acclaimed rendition of the 8th.
