Pietari Inkinen returns to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra

Pietari Inkinen returns to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in August for two programmes in Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton.

In Radiance, Pietari reunites with tenor Simon O’Neill for excerpts from Wagner’s Tannhäuser and Parsifal. The concerts take place at Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre on 14 August and Auckland Town Hall on 21 August.

The following evening, Inkinen conducts an all-Finnish programme entitled Myths & Legends. NZSO Concertmaster Vesa-Matti Leppänen is the soloist in the New Zealand premiere of Magnus Lindberg’s Violin Concerto No. 2, framed by two works inspired by the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala: Sibelius’s Pohjola’s Daughter and Lemminkäinen Suite. Performances take place in Wellington on 15 August, Auckland on 22 August and Hamilton on 23 August.

Concerts in Tokyo and Nagoya

On 1 August, Pietari Inkinen returns to Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall to make his debut with the Kioi Hall Chamber Orchestra Tokyo. The following day, the same programme will be performed in Nagoya as part of the celebrations marking the reopening of Shirakawa Hall.
